Ghanaian politician Sammi Awuku has issued a sharp warning to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), vowing that the opposition will remember what he describes as ongoing mistreatment of former officials when power changes hands.
According to the leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the current administration is subjecting appointees from the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo era to degrading treatment.
“The NDC government is treating senior former appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration like human garbage,” he stated, expressing outrage over what he sees as politically motivated actions.
He further argued that the alleged actions are not limited to former officials but are affecting ordinary citizens and party loyalists. He warned that such actions would not be forgotten.
“The NPP will never forget all the evil things being done to the Ghanaian people and also to our supporters,” he added.
Turning his attention to state institutions, he called on agencies such as the Economic and Organised Crime Office(EOCO) and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to remain professional and resist political influence.
“Let your loyalty be to the state and not individuals who are temporal occupants of their positions,” he urged.
He also raised concerns about what he described as sweeping investigations targeting former government officials, claiming that nearly all appointees from the previous administration are under scrutiny.
“Every appointee under the Akufo-Addo administration is under investigation, even the Attorney General,” he said.
