Renowned Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy, known in private life as Livingstone Etse Satekla, together with his wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, and members of the Livingstone Foundation, paid a significant visit to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and Eastern Regional Commander of the facility, DDP Patrick Thomas Seidu, briefed the artiste and his team on the operations of the prison, including inmate population and ongoing rehabilitation programmes. Officers present at the engagement included the Second-in-Command, DDP Andrew Osei; DDP Samuel Adzewoda; ADP Mohammed M. Adam; ADP Vitalis Aiyeh; and the Staff Officer, DSP Frederick Nsenyani.
As part of the visit, the team toured key sections of the facility, where initiatives such as the prison education system, vocational training programmes, and collaborations with partner institutions were highlighted. These efforts are aimed at equipping inmates with relevant skills for successful reintegration into society.
Stonebwoy also thrilled inmates with brief musical performances, creating an atmosphere of excitement and inspiration.
Speaking during the visit, the artiste expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to interact with inmates, noting that the experience had deepened his understanding of incarceration and the importance of supporting rehabilitation efforts. He further pledged to make such visits an annual initiative to motivate and uplift inmates.
In support of inmate welfare, Stonebwoy and his team donated assorted items, including toiletries, bottled water, bags of rice, gari, assorted drinks, and other essential supplies.
The visit forms part of broader efforts to promote rehabilitation, reintegration, and public support for inmates, while strengthening the connection between society and correctional institutions.
DDP Patrick Thomas Seidu, on behalf of the Director-General of Prisons, expressed sincere gratitude to the artiste and his team for their generosity and encouragement to the inmates.
