The Ghana Football Association has settled on experienced Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz as the new Black Stars coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament.
The former Real Madrid and Portugal tactician replaces Otto Addo, who was shown the exit door following the Black Stars dismal performance against Austria and Germany.
Queiroz arrives with an impressive résumé, having managed elite sides including Real Madrid and served as assistant at Manchester United. On the international stage, he has coached Portugal national football team, Iran national football team, Egypt national football team, Oman national football team, Japan national football team, and Qatar national football team.
His World Cup pedigree is equally noteworthy. He guided South Africa national football team to qualification for the 2002 tournament, led Portugal to the knockout stages in 2010, and managed Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions, earning global respect for his tactical discipline and defensive organization.
Ghana will open their campaign on June 17, 2026, in Toronto against Panama national football team, before facing European heavyweights England national football team and Croatia national football team in what promises to be a demanding group.
With Queiroz now at the helm, expectations will be high among Ghanaian fans as the Black Stars aim to rediscover their competitive edge on the world stage.
