The 3rd Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Masawudu Osman, has openly criticized Ghana’s Electoral Commission, accusing it of bias and unconstitutional actions during a recent election. Speaking on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem with Kwamena Sam Biney on Bryt 99.1 FM, he declared that the NPP had no involvement in the said election because they viewed the process as flawed and unlawful.
According to Alhaji Osman, the election was inconsistent and marred by irregularities. He alleged that both the Electoral Commission and the opposition NDC tried to manipulate the system and use illegal methods to secure a parliamentary seat.
He further explained that although some candidates are contesting the election, it does not reflect the party’s official position. He emphasized that the NPP has taken the matter to court because they believe in the rule of law and judicial resolution over the actions of the Electoral Commission.
Alhaji Masawudu stressed that the court had already issued a directive for the Electoral Commission to three polling stations in , particularly in the Aburakuma North and surrounding areas. He believes this confirms the party’s concerns and supports their call for transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
