The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Ransford Owusu Boakye has assured to demolish structures being used as brothels and drug peddling particular on the KFC and the railway lines promoting commercial sex activities in the city.
The move is part of effort to curb growing commercial sex activities involving teenagers in the regional capital.

Few months after, the syndicates returned, with expansion of the structures, the commercial sex and drug peddling activities rebounded.
The dozens of sex workers housed in the brothels pay at least Ghc100 daily per room to the owners of the facilities.
This has become booming illicit business attracting many others to erect similar structures to rent out.
Owners of the facilities allegedly bribes some security personnel to compromise them.
However addressing the New Juaben South Assembly Meeting, the MCE Ransford Owusu Boakye said the assembly plans a possible demolition of the facility.

Some interactions with residents around the area suggest that the place is being used by drug peddlers and for prostitution business. We intend on engaging owners of these structures for possible demolition”.
Pressure has since started mounting on the MCE to execute the demolition exercise.
However, sources say some individuals behind the illicit activities are lobbying the Assembly to rescind the decision claiming it will affect their livelihood.
