Linda Ocloo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, has warned Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region against delegating official responsibilities to their personal assistants (PAs).
During a press conference and meeting with the MMDCEs on Thursday, August 28, she voiced concerns about the growing practice of PAs attending official events and, in some cases, signing documents on behalf of their employers.
She emphasized that such actions threaten the secrecy necessary for the Regional Coordinating Council’s (RCC) functioning and undercut accountability.
She cautioned the MMDCEs that private topics should be kept solely between appointed officials and that PAs have no place in RCC sessions.
“Some of you have surrounded yourselves with personal assistants (PAs) who have virtually taken over your official responsibilities. If you have decided to bring P.As, let them be clear that their role is strictly to help you organise your schedules, manage your time and provide administrative support. Your P.As we are not to approve documents and not to represent you at official meetings. This must stop immediately.
“Assemblies cannot be run by unelected and unappointed individuals hiding behind your authority. No MMDCE is to attend any RCC meetings with their meetings. Note, some issues are strictly confidential,” she stated.
