On Bryt FM’s Adekyee Mu Nsem morning show, hosted by Kwamina Sam Baney, the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Agyei Awatey, addressed the outcome of the recently held Akwatia by-election.
She emphasized that no money was paid to influence the outcome of the election, insisting that the people of Akwatia voted for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) purely because of the confidence they have in the party’s leadership and vision.
Hon. Awatey dismissed allegations of vote buying by the NDC, describing them as false accusations born out of jealousy by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She stressed that vote buying is a crime and assured listeners that the NDC is fully aware of the rules and regulations governing elections and would never breach them. She wished the NPP “better luck next time.”
The Regional Minister expressed her heartfelt gratitude to party leaders, regional organizers, constituency executives, the Inspector General of Police and his team, nurses, and everyone who participated in the electoral process.
She concluded by saying that “this victory is not just for the NDC but for Ghana as a whole, highlighting that the peaceful and calm nature of the election reflects the nation’s growing democratic maturity”.
