The Ghana Armed Forces Sports Complex at Burma Camp burst into life on Saturday, 6th September 2025, when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted its third edition of “A Day with the Diplomatic Corps”, a vibrant celebration of culture, sports and diplomacy held under the theme “Unity in Diversity: Diplomacy through Culture and Sports”.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson (MP) reminded all that culture and sports are universal languages and powerful tools for building trust, strengthening bonds, and deepening understanding.
He kicked off the games with a penalty shootout, setting the tone for the day. From football, basketball, volleyball and track events to board games, swimming, sack racing, and karaoke. The competition was fierce but friendly, Children had their share of excitement too, with face painting, bouncy castles, swimming, and fun races that kept spirits high. At the end of the competition winners received medals and trophies, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emerging as the overall champions.
The day was not just about sports. It was also a taste of the world on plate. Guests indulged in dishes from Ghana, Japan, China, USA, Italy, Sierra Leone, Austria, Brazil, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, India, Liberia, Australia, Lebanon, Korea, Colombia, Equatorial Guinea, Palestine, and Iran. Each food told its own story.
