Akosua Manu, special aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that President John Dramani Mahama has failed to outline strategies to combat irresponsible mining activities in the country.
According to the special aide, President Mahama must tell Ghanaians about plans to fight galamsey.
Akosua Manu accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led administration of double standards in their approach to illegal mining. She articulated that President Mahama and his party consistently criticized the former president, Akufo-Addo’s administration, for taking radical actions against.
‘‘Since assuming office in January 2025, the President has failed to outline a clear strategy to address the menace.’’ Akosua Manu told Adom TV
Akosua Manu continued that “Ghanaians deserve to know what exactly President Mahama plans to do about galamsey. In opposition, he made all the noise and criticized every intervention of the NPP. Today, the problem is worse, and yet, he and his appointees have gone silent.”
“Today, these same individuals sit comfortably in government but have abandoned their calls. They owe the people of Ghana an apology,” said Akosua Manu.
She advised President Mahama to move beyond political talk and present concrete solutions, stressing that the fight against galamsey is too critical to be reduced to partisan slogans.
