Today is exactly 60 days after Ghana confirmed its first two cases of Pandemic COVID-19 and currently, the Country has 4,700 cases.
Three days later, the cases increased to six, and on 15th March President Akufo-Addo delivered his second address on the COVID -19 after he chaired a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Coronavirus response.
The president decided, in the interest of public safety and the protection of the population, reviewed the public gathering advisories earlier announced on 12th March which included the closure of all Schools and ban on all public gatherings which took effect on the 16th March 2020.
For the past sixty days, the president and Ministers have been given an update to the Nation frequently and have introduced relief and stimulus packages for citizens, Industries, and Small businesses.
Ghana has conducted 160,501 tests as at 10th May was with 4,700 positive cases and 494, recoveries, five (5) persons being critically ill, and four thousand, one hundred and seventy-nine (4,179) persons responding to treatment.
Twenty-two (22) persons, virtually all of them with underlying illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic liver disease, have unhappily died.
Ban on all public gatherings and closure of Schools has been extended to 31st May 2020.
