Ghana National Cocoa Farmers Association (GNACOFA) has expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the government of Ghana and Cocobod (COCOBOD) for the recent increment of GHC 400.00 per bag of cocoa, bringing the producer price to GHC 3,628.75 per 64kg for the 2025/2026 cocoa season.
They said, the government’s commitment to addressing the legitimate concerns of farmers nationwide, noting that the adjustment aligns with the promised 70% FOB price Structure, taking into account currency rate fluctuations.
Again, they commend the government for the increment underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing the profitability, sustainability and appeal of Cocoa Farming for future generations.
They also encouraged by this positive trend and hope for a resolution to GNACOFA’s concerns regarding the limited representation of farmers on COCOBOD’s Board as well as the outstanding welfare obligations of the government towards farmers as mandated by PNDCL 81.
Addressing these issues will help improve COCOBOD and the government of Ghana polices ,ensuring they better align with farmers realities and strengthen the mutually beneficial relationship being established.
Accordingly to them, they are ready to collaborate with the government and COCOBOD to comprehensively address all issues related to Ghana’s Cocoa sector, guaranteeing it continues to be a source of pride and prosperity for generations to come.
