The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in a significant initiative to promote constitutional awareness and civic responsibility among the youth, has inaugurated five civic education clubs across various private schools in the GA North municipality.
The event, which took place throughout September, saw the formation of clubs in Peace Anchor Academy, Discipline Child School, Mighty Jesus Academy, Prinsac Academy, and Floyd Albert School.
The newly formed clubs aim to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as citizens, fostering engagement in democratic processes such as voting, advocacy, and community service.
During the inauguration ceremony, Mrs Rose Elorm Klutse-Adelayita, Assistant Director of NCCE GA North, led the swearing-in of the seven club executives.
The Municipal Director of the NNCE, Ms Mabel Munufie, welcomed the executives and members while encouraging them to embrace their roles with dedication.
Delivering an inspiring speech, she emphasized the importance of setting clear goals and defining the mission of the clubs.
“The clubs serve as a vital platform for students to engage in discussions and debates on political and social issues. It is essential for you to critically evaluate information and make informed decisions regarding civic matters.” Ms Munufie stated.
She reassured club members that the NCCE office would regularly visit to facilitate quizzes, debates, and excursions, enhancing the educational experience.
This initiative not only cultivates critical thinking and analytical skills among students but also encourages them to connect with like-minded peers, community leaders, and civic organisations and practice responsible citizenry in the GA North municipality
As these clubs embark on their journey, the NCCE is optimistic about the positive impact they will have on the students and the broader community, empowering the next generation to participate actively in democratic processes.
