The Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing on Monday visited the sea defense project at Dansoman to assess the state of work.
The Committee, led by Hon. Vincent Asamoah Oppong, expressed dissatisfaction with the progress and quality of the Project.
During the inspection, the committee noted that despite the project’s technical importance in protecting the shoreline from tidal waves, the level of work done, does not show a true reflection of the nearly $80 million contract especially as the local contractor lacks experience with such large-scale projects.
The ranking member, Hon. Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Karsah, together with the committee in supporting the chairman’s stance, noted that the work done does not reflect the scale of investment a therefore called for an audit.
They expressed concern over the contractor’s slow progress, and emphasized the need to demonstrate greater capacity and commitment to timely project delivery.
