Richard Ahiagbah has defended the New Patriotic Party’s economic record, claiming that the current administration inherited a stable and recovering economy.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, he contradicted the NDC’s accusations that the economy was in bad shape, stating that growth in 2024 was 5.7% and that foreign organizations such as the IMF and World Bank recognized a recovery.
He compared the present NDC administration’s success to the NPP’s previous record, emphasizing sectors growth and job creation efforts.
“If they are slow in building the economy, that is their responsibility.
“They cannot blame the opposition,” Ahiagbah said. He also noted that initiatives like the 24-hour economy and Feed Ghana remain largely unimplemented, which he described as a failure to deliver on campaign promises.
Ahiagbah asserts that timely execution and political will are the true obstacles.
He called on the current administration to take strong action, emphasizing that inherited economic prosperity should be used as a springboard for progress rather than as a justification for delay.
