Ghanaians living in Germany are appealing to the Ghana government as matter of urgency repatriate citizens currently stranded in the country due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement signed by the leader of the Ghanaian community in Germany, Kwaku Appiah, stated that there are about 210 Ghanaians with about 40 children who have either lost their jobs, losing their apartments as well as those who urgently need medical care, among many others.
The statement added citizens are ready to comply with all health protocols associated with possible evacuation should the government decide to comply with the request.

Dear Minister Heiko Maas
Subject: Letter of Appeal –REPATRIATION of Ghanaians with a residence permit in Germany or with German citizenship, stranded in Ghana
The Ghana Community in Germany (GIG) is hereby writing this letter to appeal to you, to consider assisting Ghanaians with residence permits in Germany who are currently lockdown in Ghana as a result of the COVID 19 Pandemic to return to Germany.
There are about 210 people including roughly 40 children in Ghana at present. (see attachment)
Prompt attention will be appreciated as most of them are facing the following problems:
· Losing their jobs.
· Urgent family re-union
· Losing their residence permit.
· Losing their apartments
· Children missing school
· Children missing homeschooling
· Urgent medical care
They are willing to comply with any health checks or testing before being evacuated
Please let us know if you can organize a flight for them as soon as possible.
