By: Hon. Daniel Twumasi Kankam Assemblyman, New Juaben North Municipality
The sod-cutting ceremony held today at Asokore for the construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound marks a significant milestone in the collective quest to improve access to quality primary healthcare within the New Juaben North Municipality.
This important intervention is a clear demonstration of responsive, people-centred leadership by the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly under the able stewardship of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) : Hon. Samuel Adongo. The decision to site a CHPS Compound at Asokore; Abrodua to be precise, is not accidental; it is a well-thought-out, strategic, and needs-driven project designed to bring healthcare closer to the people, reduce pressure on existing facilities, and ultimately improve health outcomes for residents of Asokore and its surrounding communities.
The CHPS concept remains one of Ghana’s most impactful healthcare delivery models, particularly at the grassroots level. By decentralising basic healthcare services, this facility will ensure timely medical attention, strengthen preventive healthcare, support maternal and child health services, and enhance public health education within the community. Indeed, this project stands as a testament to the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development and social equity.
As a member of the Municipal Assembly, I wish to commend Hon. Samuel Adongo : the Municipal Chief Executive and the entire Assembly for prioritising the welfare of our people through tangible, life-enhancing projects. This initiative reflects leadership that listens, plans, and delivers; leadership that places human development at the centre of local governance.
I also wish to express profound appreciation to our revered traditional authorities; the Nananom, whose wisdom, guidance, and leadership played a pivotal role in making this project a reality. Their continuous support for development initiatives within the municipality remains invaluable and deeply respected.
Furthermore, I extend my warmest congratulations to my colleague, Hon. Amoh Acheampong : the Assemblyman for the electoral area directly benefiting from this project. This is a well-deserved achievement for the people he represents, and a clear indication that effective representation and collaboration yield meaningful results for our communities.
The CHPS Compound is more than a physical structure; it is a symbol of hope, foresight, and collective responsibility. When completed, it will stand as a lasting legacy of what purposeful leadership, traditional authority, and community partnership can achieve together.
As we look forward to the successful completion of this project, I reaffirm my commitment, together with the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, to continue supporting initiatives that uplift the quality of life of our people and advance sustainable development across the municipality.
Together, we are building healthier communities for today and generations yet unborn.
