Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa hosted the British High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Christian Rogg at the Ministry.
They assessed the two countries increasingly buoyant bilateral relations and aligned our priority areas of focus for 2026 consistent with the vision of President John Mahama.
Ghana and the UK have commenced processes intended to elevate our bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership.
Their engagement highlighted multiple sectors for deeper cooperation including security, trade, job creation, health, education, governance and constitutional review.
The minister called for a government to government framework for the protection and improved conditions of particularly Ghanaian health practitioners who work and aspire to work in the UK.
He again made a special appeal for Ghana to be exempted from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the required fees payable by Ghanaian students and professionals since English has long been the Medium of Instruction in Ghana.
At the conclusion of our extremely fruitful deliberations, Mr. Ablakwa promised to compensate the distinguished High Commissioner when the Black Stars defeat England at the World Cup by inviting him to North Tongu where the minister will personally cook a delicious meal of Akple and Fetri Detsi for HE Rogg.
