Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, Member of Parliament for Salaga South, has represented Ghana at a global event in Geneva, showcasing the country’s efforts in promoting child rights.
The event, which focused on child rights, was a huge success, with Ghana receiving applause for its positive interventions.
Hon. Zuwera Mohammed highlighted Ghana’s initiatives, including efforts to ensure parity between boys and girls in schools, and the deployment of mobile registration processes to register new births in rural areas.
She also spoke about the Gender committee of Parliament’s role in monitoring and providing oversight on shelters for vulnerable and displaced people.
The MP also shed light on the government’s approach to tackling drug abuse among teenagers, noting the establishment of Narcotics Control commission offices in district capitals to bring services closer to citizens.
The Ghana delegation was led by the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
