Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has opened up about Andre Ayew’s Black Stars future, stressing he will not be surprised if the highly-profiled forward earns a place in the team for the 2026 World Cup tournament.
The West African giants are set for their fifth World Cup participation after securing one of Africa’s nine automatic slots.
In an interview with Adom FM, Kofi Adams affirmed he will not be surprised to see Ayew in the Black Stars for the mundial, while acknowledging selection decision rest solely in the technical team.
“I think he is picking up also. Once he has not retired and still playing actively, I won’t be surprised to see him in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup,”
“However, it is the responsibility of the coach to decide whether to invite him or not,” he added.
Andrew Ayew recently secured a move to Dutch outfit, NAC Breda after several months’ absence. Since joining the club, the former West Ham United star has showcased glimpses of good performance, as the side battle against relegation.
