The Member of Parliament for Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo, describing her as a dedicated and visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire many.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the MP for Salaga South said the late Hajia Mary Boforo exemplified competence, dedication, and strong leadership, proving that service and vision know no gender.
Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah noted that while Parliament mourns the passing of the former legislator, it is equally important to celebrate her life, purpose, and lasting impact.
According to her, the name of Hajia Mary Boforo still echoes through the corridors of Parliament and remains associated with discipline, diligence, and compassion.
She said the tribute deeply moved her, adding that the legacy and example of the late MP have profoundly shaped her own understanding of parliamentary work and conduct.
Hon. Zuwera further stressed that the best way to honour the memory of the late Hajia Mary Boforo is to ensure that the opportunities she created remain open for others, particularly women from Northern Ghana and across the country, to rise to leadership positions.
According to the Salaga South MP, the late Hajia Mary Boforo was a household name throughout the Northern Region due to her dedication to community development. She recalled that during her time as a young student working in community development projects, Savelugu was one of her project areas where she witnessed first-hand the transformative impact of Hajia Mary Boforo’s service to the people.
She explained that every grinding mill installed and every borehole constructed in the area reflected the late MP’s commitment to improving the lives of her constituents, especially women.
Hon. Zuwera Ibrahimah emphasized that the late Mary Boforo’s connection to her constituency was both special and admirable, as she consistently prioritized the welfare of women and worked tirelessly to uplift her community.
She concluded by praying for the peaceful rest of the late former Member of Parliament.“May Allah grant the soul of the late Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo eternal peace,” she said.
