The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) to advance the country’s energy and sustainable development agenda.
Mr. Jinapor made this known following a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of SEforALL and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, Damilola Ogunbiyi, who also serves as Co-Chair of UN-Energy.
According to the Minister, the discussions centred on enhancing cooperation between Ghana and SEforALL in areas critical to achieving universal access to sustainable and affordable energy, while supporting the country’s broader development objectives.
He commended SEforALL for its global leadership in promoting access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy, noting that the organisation continues to play a significant role in helping countries accelerate their energy transition efforts.
Mr. Jinapor also praised SEforALL’s contribution to Mission 300, an ambitious initiative aimed at connecting 300 million people across Africa to electricity by 2030. He described the programme as a transformative effort that has the potential to boost inclusive economic growth and improve livelihoods across the continent.
The Minister stressed that Ghana highly values its longstanding partnership with SEforALL, particularly in expanding energy access, promoting renewable energy solutions, mobilising investments into the energy sector and supporting sustainable economic development.
He expressed optimism that strengthened cooperation between the two institutions would help Ghana achieve its energy transition goals while ensuring reliable and sustainable energy for communities across the country.
The meeting forms part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to deepen international partnerships and attract strategic support for the development of a resilient, inclusive and sustainable energy sector.
