Ghana Premier League side Karela United have been hit with a FIFA registration ban over an outstanding financial obligation owed to former player Sana Camara.
The ban prevents the club from registering new players at both the national and international levels and could remain in force for up to three complete and consecutive registration periods.
According to FIFA, the sanction follows Karela United’s failure to comply with an earlier decision requiring the club to settle its financial obligations to Camara.
FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to enforce the domestic registration ban against the club.
The restriction will remain in place until the outstanding amount is fully paid, subject to the maximum three-window duration.
The development comes as Karela United prepare for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, potentially limiting the club’s ability to strengthen its squad through new signings.
Karela United have, however, expressed surprise at the decision and indicated that they are engaging FIFA and the parties involved to resolve the dispute. The club’s legal department is also pursuing processes to challenge the ban.
Under FIFA’s registration-ban rules, clubs subject to such sanctions are prohibited from registering new players domestically or internationally until the ban is lifted or the prescribed registration periods have been served.
