The Bunso Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, responded swiftly to a vehicular accident at Biremso on the Accra-Kumasi Highway, near Anyinasin Junction. A distress call was received at 09:04hrs reporting the accident. At 0906hrs, a duty crew, led by ADO II Dacosta Amankwah, was dispatched to the scene and arrived at 0911hrs.
According to an eyewitness, he heard a loud crash and rushed to the scene, where he found a black Toyota Corolla with registration number GR 1425-18 that had plunged into the Birem River. Before the arrival of the GNFS crew, members of the public had rescued the occupants from the vehicle and conveyed them to Hawa Saviour Memorial Hospital for medical attention. Six male occupants sustained injuries, while no fatalities were recorded.
The Toyota Corolla was completely damaged, some personal belongings were recovered from the vehicle. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
