The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for New Juaben South, Alhaji Salessie Amuzu has assured delegates of a smooth and peaceful election as the party prepares to elect constituency executives on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
He said the constituency had notified the Ghana Police Service and the Electoral Commission (EC) of its preparations and selected the Koforidua Cultural Centre as the venue for the conference.
According to him, more than 1,719 delegates are expected to participate in the election, prompting the election committee to divide the voting arrangements into three centres to ease congestion and ensure an orderly process.
Alhaji Salessie Amuzu said branch chairpersons, secretaries and organisers were invited to help delegates identify their designated voting centres ahead of the exercise.
He further disclosed that the Electoral Commission had procured additional ballot boxes to facilitate the voting process.
The arrangement, he explained, is intended to speed up voting and prevent the process from extending late into the night, as experienced in previous elections.
He cited a similar arrangement at Eredecs Hotel in previous elections expressing confidence that the structure of the Cultural Centre would support an efficient electoral process.
Responding to concerns that the choice of venue could be linked to attempts to manipulate the outcome, the chairman rejected suggestions that he intended to rig the election.
He said his confidence in securing another term was based on his performance during his four years as constituency chairman and his extensive campaign efforts ahead of Saturday’s polls.
The NDC is holding constituency-level elections across the Eastern Region, with 31 of the region’s 33 constituencies scheduled to elect their executives on Saturday, October 24, while the remaining two are expected to hold their conferences on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
