A sixty-two-year-old man who went into farming since 1983 from Afabeng, Mohammed Moro was crowned 2019 District best farmer for Upper West Akyem in the Eastern Region.
He took home try-cycle popularly known as “Aboboyaa worth about ¢10,000.00, Spraying machine, Weedicides, Insecticides, Cutlass, wellington boots, and other farming inputs.
Mr. Moro Mohammed also received a 32 inches Flat screen television and ¢1000.00 cash from NPP and NDC parliamentary candidates for the constituency.
The best farmer owns 14-acre maize farm, Cocoa-13 acres, cassava-14 acres, Orange -7acres, Palm -10 acres, 42 cows, 40 Goats, 73 fowls, and 20 sheep.
Addressing the farmers, DCE for the Area, Mr. Eugene Sackey commended farmers for their contributions to nation-building and pledged government support for farmers in the District.
He noted that the introduction of flagship programs by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture has made farming attractive especially the planting for food and job programs.
Present at the celebration was MP for the constituency, Hon. Derek Ohene Bekoe Asifu Darko, NPP parliamentary candidate for 2020, Mr. Obeng Adom Frederick, Chief of Nyanoa, Barima Opoku Okyere I, and leaders from NPP and NDC in the Constituency and officials from the District Assembly.
