Veteran Ghanaian actress and media personality, Grace Omaboe, commonly known as Maame Donkono has expressed her regrets for campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to her, participating in active politics and campaigning for the President Akuffo Addo and the NPP will still be a dagger in her heart.
Speaking in an interview with Agyemang Prempeh on “The Legends” show, on TV XYZ, she disclosed that no member of the NPP paid her a visit when she was seriously sick.
She went ahead to say that even the president failed to visit her after her active engagement for the party.
“Recently I felt sick very seriously. Nana Akuffo Addo even didn’t come to my house. He was aware I was sick but there was no sign of him, meanwhile, he could have even sent somebody, but he didn’t. However, I’m not disturbed. That is why I’m advising that you (celebrities) to always be in the middle so that you can take opportunities from both sides”, she recounted the incident.
She asserted that politics is something that she would never venture again and wish she had never ventured.
“If it is possible to turn back the clock, I would never venture into it. Now I have quit and I’m a neutral person now waiting to take an opportunity but I won’t come out to show where I belong.
Maame Dokono was one of the Ghanaian celebrities who actively engaged in the 2008 general election in which she revealed her political status to the public and also vied for a parliamentary seat but lost the election.
According to her, her engagement with the NPP made her lose her acting career and also reduced her fan base.
