A newly built maternity block at Akwadum Clinic in the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly of the Eastern region has been commissioned by the Member of Parliament for the area Nana Agyei Boateng to help serve the health care needs of the people in the area.
The new block which was funded by the Member of Parliament (MP) with his share that comes from the National Health Insurance, the facilities including labour and delivery wards, doctor and nurses changing rooms and many more.
According to him, the clinic served major cases in Akwadum and its surrounding areas but lacked certain facilities, thus affecting its work as a health facility, hence the need for all stakeholders and government to put up modern buildings to befit the status of a Clinic.
The MP, while speaking at the commissioning urged authorities to manage the new block properly and indicated the government’s willingness to any activities to improve the health sector.
Hon Comfort Asante MCE for New Juabeng North in his address said the edifice is expected to help relieve the pressure on existing facilities at the health centre as a result of the increasing population.
She, therefore, commended the MP, Nana Agyei Boateng for funding the new maternity block which will help improve the healthcare of the people especially pregnant women.
