Senior Minister, Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo has said Volta River Authority has complied with best Industry practices and has become first-class engineering and management firm beyond the boundaries of Ghana.
According to him, VRA over the last decade has demonstrated the strength of fix resilience in operation and engineering practices and noted Technology continues to change at the Authority for the past 60 years.
Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo said this at the launch of VRA 60th Anniversary on the theme “Celebrating 60 years in Power Business; Our legacy Our Future.”
He said VRA despite been a State Institution operates with a Public Sector mindset and does not operate like a typical public service Institution and urged others to emulate.
Chief Executive officer of VRA Ing. Emmanuel Antwi Darkwa said despite challenges mainly driving by difficulties in the sector, the Authority remained Resilient and maintained market leadership and said since 2017, VRA has not gone to the government for any subsidy and financial support and will continue to be beyond aid in coming years.
He said VRA implemented prudent financial management practices in 2017 and that resulted in consistent improvement of the year on year financial position and will continue to develop VRA into Public Institution by which it will operate with a private-sector mindset.
