The Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama says aside from legalizing and regularizing commercial motorbike operations, the next NDC government will additionally facilitate the supply of motorbikes and protective equipment for Okada riders on a “work and pay basis”.
Again, it will provide free training to Okada riders and ensure that they are licensed to operate.
Addressing separate rallies in Akuapem Adawso, Nkyenoa, Klo Agogo Akateng, and Asesewa, Adeiso, and Akwatia where hundreds of Okada riders mobbed Mr. Mahama as part of his tour to the Eastern Region, he stated that “When we come to power, we would amend the law to give legal backing to your operation. We have that company will supply motorbikes and helmets to Okada riders on work and pay bases. We will provide free training to Okada riders to be able to ride the motorbikes well to minimize accidents.
The NDC’s Presidential candidate also threw light on one million job creation plans for the youth should it win the December 7 election.
Mr. Mahama stated that the next NDC government will implement a free apprenticeship training program for the youth interested in learning various vocational skills, and provide them startups to commence business.
Mr. Mahama said the NDC will fine-tune the Free Senior High School Policy, expand infrastructure to end the double-track system within the first year in government.
He said Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) will also be free under the next NDC government.
