The Asamankese Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ACP) Akwasi Kankam Boadu has noted that there will peaceful Presidential and Parliamentary elections only if citizens in the Country abide by the law.
He said the Security services are ready to protect all citizens, especially voters and Electoral Commission officials, and called for cooperation for an incident-free election.
ACP Akwasi Kankam Boadu said this When the Ghana National Commission on Small Arms with support from United Nations Development Program and German Cooperation engaged stakeholders in an election in Lower West Akyem Constituency, dubbed “Ballots without Bullets”.
The “Ballots without Bullets” is ongoing across the country for some selected Constituencies declared by the Security as Flash/Hot spots for December polls which aim to safeguard Public Safety and Security.
The Divisional Police Commander said Lower West Akyem, which has been named as a hot spot for election is a challenge for the Security and Political leaders and their supporters to control their tongue and avoid any action that will create tension in the area.
He said the Police are considering every polling station in the Constituency as a hot spot and the Police will be alert and active everywhere.
The West Akyem Municipal Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Ackah said no robbery case has been recorded in the area in 2020 and said it is due to the proactiveness and hard work of the Patrol team.
He said the Municipal police command is ready for peaceful polls and will deal with anyone found disturbing peace in the area and called on Party supporters to comport themselves.
Chief Superintendent Joseph Ackah said the police will be available in all polling stations and checkpoints in the area as a patrol team will also be available together with Police MTTD to check reckless driving and motorcycle riders who may attempt to disobey rules.
