The Eastern Regional Minister, Honourable Eric Kwakye Daffour has revealed that out of 1,551 kilometers of highway Roads in the region, only 35% is in good shape.
He added that the region has about 1,350 urban roads and only 22% is in good shape at the 2017 Nana Akufo-Addo led administration took over.
In a telephone interview with Kofi Atakora, mybrytfmonline reporter, Honourable Eric Kwakye Daffour, who doubles as Member of Parliament for Nkawkwa Constituency since 2012 said the regional coordinating through Ministry of Roads and Highways has awarded 150 kilometer of urban roads across the region which most are in stages of completion.
The minister said about 200-kilometer highway road has been awarded for construction in the region as well as three Critical roads which include Koforidua, Suhum-Asamankese (90k), Nkwakaw-Abirim-Oda (95k), Ekyi Amanfrom-Donkorkrom (75k).
Mr. Kwakye Daffour said if the NPP administration is given another four-year term, the region will see more road infrastructure and urged people in the Eastern Region to exercise patience because there is hope in 2020.
About 61 percent of roads in the country have been classified as poor, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Atta has revealed.
According to Mr. Amoako-Atta, there are approximately 72,000 kilometers of roads in the country out of which 23 percent had been asphalted with 39 percent in good condition and 61 percent could be classified as fair or poor.
