The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference has said the COVID-19 vaccine is a mark of the beast and there is no truth about this assertion because there is nothing demonic about the vaccine, quoting Revelation 13:16-17 to support their statement.
The Bishops encouraged their priests, consecrated men and women and all Christ’s faithful, and indeed every Ghanaian, to avail themselves of the opportunity to be vaccinated.
In a statement released and signed by the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), Archbishop Philip Naameh who is also metropolitan Arch Bishop for Tamale said Conference is convinced and confident that all national bodies set up to test, assess, and monitor vaccines, drugs, and other products for consumption have done due diligence and understand the safety and efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines and the implications of undertaking a nation-wide vaccination.
The statement said, “We have experienced success with vaccines in the past with diseases such as smallpox, measles, polio, influenza, and other diseases and so we are convinced that vaccines could be the answer to the COVID-19 pandemic despite the concerns raised by anti-vaccine groups and other groups who advocate otherwise.”
According to the Catholic Bishops, the vaccine will reduce the COVID-19 disease and deaths among people, improve the psychological well-being of Ghanaians, improve quality of life by removing disruptions in educational, social, and economic activities and improve international travels especially among countries that have received the vaccination.
”We should, therefore, see the arrival of the vaccine(s) as an answer to our prayer and avail ourselves of the opportunity to be vaccinated. It is our fervent prayer and hopes that many of you will avail yourselves of this exercise since we cannot coerce anybody to do so.”
