There was complete pandemonium at Achiase Senior High School during a devastating rainstorm disaster that struck the school.
The violent rainstorm ripped off the dining hall, Girls dormitory, the girl’s bathhouse, and the urinal of both boys and girls.
Parts of the computer laboratory were also ripped off.
Out of fear and panic, the students ran helter-skelter for Safety which in the process two collapsed and were rushed to the hospital.
The rainstorm affected some computers, books and other personal effects of the students.
The incident which occurred on March 5, 2021, also displaced the girls in the boarding house.
Achiase SHS has a total population of about 1,500 including 625 boys and 890 girls.
Meanwhile, some teachers at Nsutem Senior High School in Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region have also been displaced after the teacher’s bungalow they occupy was ripped off by a devastating rainstorm recorded in the area.
Household properties of the affected, books, and other documents belonging to the affected teachers were soaked in rainwater destroying some.
The affected teachers have been provided temporal accommodation by the school authorities.
The rainstorm according to sources also ripped off the main Assembly Hall of the School.
Meanwhile, a Kia “loading boy” at Klo Agogo in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern region has been seriously injured in a rainstorm disaster that also occurred in the community.
A flying roof struck the ankle of the loading boy who was loading various items into the Kia Truck.
He sustained a serious wound and was rushed to Klo Agogo Clinic where he is receiving treatment.
According to Assembly Member, Harold Kuma, the rainstorm occurred on a market day where over 2000 traders and farmers were trading their produce on the Klo Agogo market.
He said the rainstorm ripped off the market sheds and carried away the roofs to far places causing complete pandemonium as the thousands of traders in the marker took to their heels for safety.
Three other persons sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, the rainstorm reportedly ripped off about 40 houses in the community as well as part of the Klo Agogo Senior High School.
A storage warehouse facility for Agricultural produce was also ripped off.
According to the Assembly Member, officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) have visited the Community on Saturday for assessment.
