Minister of Information and Member of Parliament for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, Oppong Nkrumah has said that the government’s current approach is the best to end illegal mining in the country.
Mr Nkrumah called on all Ghanaians to get serious with the fight against illegal mining adding that the current method by the government will prevent miners from the water bodies.
“Government’s approach in dealing with the menace is the best way to go,’’ Mr. Nkrumah told Adom FM.
He affirmed that those who disagree with the move of burning the excavators should follow due process as far as the laws in the country.
“The government remains fully committed to the fight against the canker in the country,’’ Mr Nkrumah assured.
Mr Nkrumah averred that mining in water bodies is prohibited.
