A woman has died in a fatal head-on collision between Hyundai H100 and Daf Tanker truck on Asamankese to Akwatia Highway in the Eastern Region.
The Hyundai H100 mini bus with registration number GG-4476-20 driven by Foster Afram with nine(9) passengers on board was heading towards Akwatia but on reaching Awaham junction collided with DAF Tanker Truck with registration number GE – 2213 – 11 driven by Suliman Mohammed with two persons on board.
Gladys Agyapong who was onboard the Hyundai H100 died on the spot while the rest of the passengers were injured and rushed to St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia.
A total of 1,450 people lost their lives to road crashes between January and June 2021, statistics from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Police Service have revealed.
The disturbing figures also indicate that 200 persons died in June (2021) alone while 1250 people were killed from January to May.
This represents a 27.19% increase compared to the same time last year where 1,040 people lost their lives.
