In recent years the Eastern Capital prides itself of great music talents but cannot lay a finger on a top-notch musician who heels from the East in the Entertainment industry of being successful at what he or she does. That’s worrisome.
It is with this background that Joy Daddy Multimedia in partnership Y & K brings to you the Kofcity We Dey public unveiling and performance events on the official Christmas Street Jam in Koforidua on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, which constitute a phase of the project.
The Kofcity We Dey is going to be a running project than an event to discover and nurture the various musical talents in the region and Koforidua to be precise to start with.
Addressing the media, the Director of Radio, Mr. Owoahene K. Acheampong of Joy Daddy Multimedia, explained that 11 up and coming musicians have been selected from known Ghanaian genres such as Highlife, Hiplife, Reggae/Dancehall, and Gospel.
The “Kofcity We Dey” Project which is going to be a yearlong annual event has as its main objective to raise at least one Eastern Region based top musician like the Fancy Gadam and Macassio of Northern Region, Flowking Stone, Amerado and Kin Paluta of Ashanti Region, Kofi Kinaata of Takoradi and the Teephlow of Central Region.
The project will also create performance avenues and get their songs on radio and TV rotations not only in the region but in Ghana as a whole to increase their publicity mileage. The project will also inculcate in them the act of show business, branding, and any other related support services which will make an artist a household name and influence corporate demand.
“As aforementioned, the project is a yearlong annual project which will create platforms, programs, and activities for these selected musicians. Chief among them is the Kofcity We Dey “Back 2 Da Hood” 2020 Jam which will reach out to the various hoods these artists reside in. The team at the multimedia will also strive to put these arts on other major events in and around Ghana” the statement reads.
