The Acting Inspection General of Police George Akufo Dampare has directed the Human Resource department of the Ghana Police Service to immediately post a service driver to Adukrom District Police Command in the Eastern Region.
It follows a debacle when a three-member robbery gang on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at about 7:00pm invaded Frimps Fuel Filling station amidst sporadic gunshots, attacked the security man and female fuel attendant on duty, and took away about Ghc1, 2000 and mobile phones from them.
The robbers allegedly dressed like Fulani herdsmen also attacked and robbed passengers in a commercial vehicle that coincidentally drove to the filling station to buy fuel.
An earlier report by an eyewitness that the security man was shot and was feared dead was false.
Mybrytfmonline.com subsequent independent checks indicate that the security man was violently attacked with a stick by the armed robbers which crippled him hence fell motionless on the floor.
Mybrytfmonline.com has also established that the Adukrom Police arrived at the robbery scene an hour after the robbers had fled due to a lack of service drivers.
The only service driver stationed at Adukrom District Police command has been transferred for some time now without replacement making it difficult for the command to embark on night patrols and respond to emergency cases since their drivers are purposely trained and equipped with unique skills for such situations.
The IGP whose attention was drawn to this situation directed for a service driver to be posted to Adukrom immediately
