The Okere District Assembly in Eastern Region has intensified public awareness of its year-long sanitation campaign dubbed “Clean Okere”.
Clean Okere Project seeks to make the humid mountainous district the cleanest in Ghana.
“In line with our sanitation project dubbed clean Okere one year project. This was launched from 1st September 2021 to 30th September 2022. We aim to become one of the cleanest districts in Ghana if not the cleanest. In line with this, we shall be holding ourselves responsible for the cleaning of our homes, shops, churches, schools, markets, streets, gutters, cemeteries, boundaries, roads, etc as well as the environment around us”. The DCE Daniel Hon. Kenneth said.
According to him, “operation clean your frontage is adopted as a symbolism to indicate that not only is we responsible for the cleanliness of our inner homes or workplaces but the environment around us”.
Hon. Daniel Kenneth said, better sanitation is a shared responsibility and requires individual conscious effort to make the environment clean.
“Sanitation is a responsibility of all of us and cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Let us all join to clean our environment so we live healthily. We have started the campaign and we shall be coming to your various communities to explain our various roles and the programs that we hope to roll out in other to achieve our aim” He concluded.
