Ghana international midfielder Richard Mpong has dreamt of playing abroad before hanging up his boots.
The 31-year-old has spent a chunk of his career in Ghana featuring Gamba All Blacks, Medeama, Asante Kotoko, Aduana Stars and Elmina Sharks.
Mpong is yet to feature for a club abroad and according to him, he would not be satisfied with his achievement in football if he is unable to play for a club outside Ghana.
In an interview with Sylvester Ntim of Aben FM in Koforidua, Mpong expressed worry about not getting the opportunity to feature for a club abroad and has therefore set sights on securing a move outside Ghana.
“I have not played for any foreign club in my career and it is something that worries me. I have had a successful spell in Ghana because I have won several trophies including Ghana Premier League, MTN FA Cup, Super Cups and others with different teams”
“Apart from Ghana U-20, I have been able to play for all the national teams. So, not playing for a club outside Ghana until now is worrying but I am working things out to move abroad to make my career complete”
The experienced midfielder then attributed his inability to play for a foreign club to a lack of a manager.
“I have never had a manager in my career and I think that affected me. I sign contracts myself, so sometimes I am being cheated. I wouldn’t have joined Kotoko from Medeama if I had a manager” he said.
