National Treasurer Hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Mary Posch Oduro has called on chiefs, traditional and religious leaders to play their role holistically in our democratic governance.
According to the hardworking member of the party, the above-mentioned leaders cannot be over-emphasized in our political space but added their utterances should be fair and desist from active partisan politics.
Speaking on the “Ebesi Sen” political show on Koforidua based Bryt FM, Madam Posch Oduro also appealed to the leaders to stand firm in their actions and not allow them to be manipulated financially or with political appointments.
Commenting on the ongoing delegates conferences of the NPP across the country, the National Treasurer hopeful was emphatic that the exercise would go a long way to strengthen the relationship of party members and also afford delegates to share their views on issues about the progress of the party.
On the issue of the next flagbearer to lead the party come 2024, Madam Posch Oduro refused to indicate her support for Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, or Trade minister, Alan Kyeremanten, indicating she is ready to work with anyone who gets the nod to lead the party.
“I am not going to worry myself on this issue, my brother. Currently, I am concerned about my intention to be the National Treasurer and nothing else” Madam Posch Oduro added.
Traditional and religious leaders over the years have been barred from active politics as enshrined in the country’s constitution but there have been several instances where some of these leaders have been chastised for their public utterances.
