About five hundred victims of the fire outbreak that ravaged Akyem Oda main market on September 13, 2021, have received support from the Microfinance and Small Loan Center (MASLOC).
The loan is in fulfillment of a promise by President Akufo Addo during his visit to the market and meeting with the affected traders in October this year.
Each of the victims received two thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc2,000) interest-free loans which the beneficiaries have been given a grace period of a year before they start repayment of the loan.
CEO of MASLOC Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah said the money was in fulfillment of the promise made by President Akufo-Addo.
She urged the beneficiaries to utilize the loan for its intended purpose to enable them to bounce back to business.
The Eastern Regional minister Seth Kwame Acheampong pleaded with the beneficiaries to honor their repayment obligation to enable others to also benefit in times of financial distress.
He also disclosed that other arrangements have been made with the Ghana Enterprises Agency to also assist the victims.
Present were the former Minister of Finance also a former MP for Oda Yaw Osafo Marfo and the current MP Alexander Akwasi Acquah.
