A woman at Koforidua Zongo in the Eastern Region has accused a police officer stationed at Jubilee House, the seat of government of allegedly defrauding her over recruitment.
Hajia Rahmatu Abdul Rahman Saed alleged that Inspector Bismark Sitor took Ghc8,000 from her under the pretext of recruiting her son into the Ghana Police Service.
According to Hajia Rahmatu Abdul Rhaman, the Police officer and his father Joseph Sitor approached him two years ago that they can help her two children be enlisted into the Ghana Police service and that should pay Ghc8,000 each to facilitate the process.
Hajia Rhaman said, she only paid Gh8,000 for the meantime to the suspect Police officer but failed to fulfill his promise.
A formal complaint was initiated at the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters where the Suspect refunded Ghc3,000 but has since failed to refund the rest of the amount.
She is appealing to the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare to fish out the police officer to refund her money.
Checks at the Regional Police Headquarters corroborated the allegations but the suspect failed to respond to text messages and phone calls for his reaction.
Meanwhile, the Suhum Police has arrested a 32-year-old man for impersonating as a Military Officer which he succeeded to defraud a desperate young man seeking to be enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces.
According to the victim, Ohene Addo Richmond, a resident of Akyem Apedwa, on November 8, 2021, at about 1:05pm, he was assisted by ADO 2 Aggrey Nana Addo, a fire officer with Suhum Fire Service to arrest the suspect Tanko Sani, 32, and handed him over to the Suhum Police.
Ohene Addo Richmond explained that on November 6, 2021, the suspect introduced himself to him as an army officer and convinced, and collected cash of Ghc 2800.00 under the pretext of recruiting him into the Ghana Armed Forces but later found out that he was not an Army Officer as claimed.
The Suspect has been detained by the Police to assist the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command DSP Ebenezer Tetteh has cautioned the public to desist from paying monies to people for enlistment because it does not work that way.
