Former Black Queens captain Grace Adjoa Bayor has quashed perceptions that female footballers are lesbians.
The 2003 Africa Women Footballer of the Year in an interview with Koforidua-based Aben FM expressed displeasure about such claims and has therefore entreated Ghanaians to desist from them.
“I don’t believe women footballers are lesbians. Anytime I hear about this I become sad because the perception is null and void”
“When one earns a call-up, there are senior players in the team who picks and nature them to reach the top and this happens in all national team including the men, so to tagged female footballers as lesbians aren’t the best”
“I will entreat Ghanaians to respect female footballers just as the men,” she said.
Adjoa Bayor was a member of the World All-Star team that played against the China Women national team in April 2007 at Wuhan China.
