Two Suspects are in the custody of Akyem Oda Divisional Police Command for attempting to sell a 16-year-old child.
The suspects are Kwaku Asare, 24, and Kwame Asante, 28.
Sources indicate that a unit committee chairman at Akyem Etwereso Electoral Area in Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency by the name of Kofi Appiah had a tip-off that the suspects were planning to sell the Victim who lives in Ashaiman.
The Unit Committee chairman pretended as an agent interested to buy the victim with proposed cash of Ghc800,000.
To execute the plan, Suspect Kwaku Asare deceived the victim to come to Akyem Oda under the pretext of securing him a well-paid job.
Police arrested the suspects on December 7, 2021, at Akyem Oda lorry terminal while waiting to complete the illicit transaction
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police command DSP Ebenezer Tetteh said the Suspects admitted in their caution statement to conspiring to sell the child.
