Under his leadership as Commissioner of Customs, the revenue target for the 2020 fiscal year set at ¢10billion was surpassed. Customs collected over ¢12.5billion, and this award deserving performance was accomplished amidst the dreaded Covid-19.
Col. Damoah, as the Commissioner of Customs, took it upon himself to educate and remind stakeholders, (importers, agents, exporters and etc) via radio about their duties and custom’s responsibilities towards them.
He’s the man under whose tenure as Commissioner, that 12 new Toyota Hilux Pick-ups were procured and supplied to custom stations for operations. The stations are; Aflao, Elubo, Sunyani, Oti, Koforidua, Bolgatanga, Tamale, Wa, and Takoradi. This was done with the support of DANIDA (Danish Development Agency). What a unique leader! May God bless him for such historic achievements in the customs division.
As the Commissioner of Customs, Col Damoah’ exemplary leadership has resulted in the agency rediscovering its confidence and belief in government. Not only has Col Damoah performed beyond expectations, but his remarkable leadership and goodwill can also be felt at the party grassroots level. He indeed has the party at heart.
He is one of the few Chief Executives who accompanied the President on almost all his campaign trails and even mounted platforms to openly champion the cause of the NPP in the 2020 general elections.
His constant meetings with some key party groups galvanised these groups to work and campaign hard for the party to retain power,”
As Commissioner for Customs, he created two key deputy commissioner portfolios (Petroleum and Mining). This has led to increasing in the number of portfolios for customs and more positions to be filled.
He is a team player and is the only commissioner to have toured almost every customs operations area (barriers, checkpoints, ports, or stations) and listened to the concerns of customs officers,”
Col. Kwadwo Damoah brought peace and assurances to customs after a turbulent start of the year 2017-2019 when officers were interdicted on daily basis.
Col. Damoah as the Commissioner for customs was able to use his managerial skills to win the hearts and support of the officers. Again, his interpersonal relationship with customs officials and NPP grassroots supporters is second to none.
