The Winneba Command of the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to contain a situation that could have led to total destruction of a 42 room capacity hostel by fire.
The incident which took place on Monday 10th January 2022 at Kojo Bodu in Winneba occurred at about 3:50 pm.
According to the report, the Service received the distress call at 3:58 pm and arrived at the scene at 4:08 pm and by 4:16 pm, the fire was brought under control and the fire was thus extinguished finally at 4:30 pm.
The Swift intervention of the firefighting personnel contained the fire in one room and saved the other adjoining rooms from the spread and ruins of the fire.
Only the affected room and its contents suffered some fire damages.
The fire is suspected to have been caused by gas leakage from a cylinder in the kitchen. No casualty was recorded.
