The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South Michael Okyere Baafi has been roasted on Facebook by the public for posting that “E-Levy the game-changer for Ghana’s Infrastructural Development#LetsSupportTheELevy”
The Facebook post appears to be a subtle reaction to his predecessor Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah, who has suggested to the government to run to IMF instead of hinging its economic fortunes on e-levy since it cannot be the solution to the ailing economy.
Michael Okyere Baafi who had earlier said on his radio station, Afeema FM in Koforidua that, the majority caucus in Parliament will use their numbers to pass e-levy at all cost, however, disagrees with Dr. Assibey Yeboah, a former MP and member of the economic management team.
For Michael Okyere Baafi, e-levy is very critical to infrastructural expansion.
This comment by the lawmaker has been met with harsh comments by his followers on Facebook.
“You’re losing respect if nobody is telling, I want to tell… Is E-levy a compulsory payment or optional source of revenue… If I decide not to use my electronic transactions because of the heavy charges to save some money for myself, will the government meet their expected revenue targets… Stop teasing the same people that voted for you”. Emmanuel Leyla reacted.
“We aren’t fools Stop the nonsense before you make us angry”. Pastor Nana Gyasi said.
Lukeman Sorogo also reacted “It is not your fault since you have an appointment and everything is catered for.Have you asked yourself the negative effect of the E- Levy on E-Commerce”.
Nana Yaa Prempeh was very harsh she said “Wafu s3 kwadaso brass band. The plenty money was not satisfactory but this paltry amount. I just blame your constituents, replacing Dr. Asiebey Yeboah with someone who thinks through his stomach”.
