The office of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency in Western North region Alfred Obeng Boateng has been vandalized by a group of rampaging youth.
Some properties at the office have been destroyed. Fortunately, the incident occurred when the MP was not at the office but rather an administrative staff who managed to escape from the vandals.
It is not clear what instigated the attack but it is likely to be linked to the ongoing Polling station executives and electoral area coordinators election which has sparked widespread bloody clashes in parts of the country.
An eyewitness however narrated, “We were in the office when we saw some group of people approaching so Bekoe told me I should excuse him to meet the people at the reception.
But they forcibly attempted to enter the office so Bekoe pushed back with resistance all of a sudden the door broke then they attempted to attack Bekoe but he managed to escape. They would have killed him simply. Because what they are doing is serious. I was afraid but for my presence and the fact that I was carrying a baby, they would have killed him. They were four in number”.
No arrest has been made.
