Following rumours of the government not willing to bring Ghanaians studying in China back home due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus has sparked the president to urged them not to put fear and panic into the young students.
“We know that no amount of logistics will make up for the extreme stress and trauma that these young people are going through. I entreat members of this Honourable House to set an example by helping to pour oil over troubled waters, instead of instigating tension and spreading fear and panic among the young people,” says His Excellency of the Republic of Ghana.
Government is in constant contact with experts in China on how to deal with the situation. If the evacuation of Ghanaians in China becomes necessary it will be done, the President has promised.
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo made this comments following a call by the Minority to urgently evacuate the over 4,000 Ghanaians, including students, trapped in China as the Asian country battles with the deadly coronavirus.
The President believes some of the comments around the matter have been politically motivated to spread fear and panic.
“It is bad to introduce vile politics in the discussion about Ghanaians in China following the outbreak of coronavirus in that country,” he stated.
The President says the measure of his administration’s progress is in how the citizens themselves feel and not what naysayers and his political opponents say.
