Hearts of Oak National Chapters Committee chairman Elvis Herman Hesse Jr. believes his outfit is not out of the Ghana Premier League title challenge.
The reigning Ghana Premier League champions currently trail leaders, Kotoko by 16 points following their defeat in the Super Clash last Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors inflicted a 1-0 win over their rivals at the Baba Yara Stadium on matchday 24 of the campaign.
With 10 games to end the season, Elvis Herman says the Phobians cannot be ruled out of the title race.
“Not at all. If you are a sports journalist, you can do your quick calculations; 10 games is I think 30 points or so. So, three times ten is I think 30 points and if you are fighting for 30 points, nobody has won the league and so it’s not over for Accra Hearts of Oak”, Elvis told ghanasportspage.com on Tuesday.
According to him, he can only throw in the towel when it’s left with five (5) matches to end the season, and the club is mathematically out of the race.
“Until maybe it’s left with 5 matches to the end of the league, personally I think we are still in the competition, anything can change. We’ve got some few matches to play away [from home] and we will strategize and know how we go about it”, he concluded.
Kotoko sits top of the table with 52 points whereas Hearts of Oak 6th position with 36 points.
